Overview - Introduction to Release of Information

In this module, we are going to explore the preparation for and the duties of a release of information (ROI) specialist. The advent of the electronic health record has made many changes to how we do business as HIM professionals. With these changes came the concept of a remote workforce. Working remotely became more than just a benefit but is now routine in most organizations. With a remote workforce, talent can be recruited from a variety of geographic areas and the facility can economize on the expenses associated with a face-to-face operation.

For managers, the challenges of monitoring, educating and coordinating large groups of remote employees are many. Complex relationships with a remote workforce and vendors add to a manager's day-to-day work making strong supervisors and delegation even more important than before.
