Step by Step - Using CityZoom
Canvas Student Support Using CityZoom
Overview
You will do many activities in Canvas on your own. Each student can do those activities at different times and in different places.
However, sometimes students and instructors meet online, together at the same time, in the same place. To do this, you will use a tool called CityZoom. You should always connect to CityZoom from inside Canvas (you can see a link to it in the left course navigation menu). This makes sure you have a safe connection.
How do I connect to CityZoom?
Find CityZoom in your Course Navigation Menu. Click on it to view information about upcoming meetings, previous meetings, and to view cloud recordings from previous meeting.
- Upcoming Meetings shows future meetings.
- Previous Meetings shows past (finished) meetings.
- Cloud Recordings shows meetings your teacher recorded.
- Get Training: Click on this to get more information about Zoom.
- Start Time shows the date and time of the meeting.
- Topic shows the topic of the class. The example says 'Welcome to class!'.
- Meeting ID shows the meeting number.
- Join: Click this to join the meeting.
- The number shows how many pages of meetings there are.
The CityZoom Meeting
Inside CityZoom, there is a main area where you see the teacher (or a student) speaking. Also, the teacher might show you something in that area, too.
Let's see what CityZoom looks like:
Chat
Chat is a great tool you can use to communicate with others during a CityZoom meeting. You can send public messages to everyone in the class or you can send a private message to your teacher or another student (and others will not see it).
