Purpose
The purpose of this scenario is to give you an opportunity to consider what the best response would be to a situation involving a member of the LGBTQ+ youth community. Use all that you have learned so far and consider any potential issues of intersectionality.
This activity relates to SLO 4 - Identify crime problems and effective justice system responses in the LGBTQ+ community.
Scenario Instructions
For this activity, we will walk through a typical law enforcement scenario involving two juveniles (under the age of consent). Each question will present you with additional facts and details. Read the scenario below and then begin.
Consider the totality of the circumstances and all that you have learned so far and respond to each question with what you would do. At the end of the activity, review your answers and the feedback provided for each. You will earn 5 points for completing this activity.
Scenario:
While on routine patrol one early evening on a Sunday night, you see a car parked in an office complex. The windows are streamed up and no other cars are in the parking lot. The business is obviously closed.
You approach the car and see what you believe are two people involved in sexual activity.
After direct the occupants to stop and open the door. You see two juveniles (under the age of consent) of the same gender only partially dressed. There is no alcohol, drugs, or weapons present.
