Class Meetings

This class is taught 50% in Canvas and 50% in Zoom.

There are two Level 5 classes offered this Spring: morning and evening.

The Zoom schedule for the morning Level 5 class is:

Tuesday: Zoom 10:20-11:45am
Wednesday: Zoom 10:20-11:45am
Thursday: Zoom 10:20-11:45am

The Zoom schedule for the evening Level 5 class is:

Tuesday: Zoom 6:20-8:35pm
Thursday: Zoom 6:20-8:35pm

Student Learning Outcomes for ESLN 3500

Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

Identify main ideas and key details in a range of short, adapted spoken English texts on familiar topics.
Communicate orally in extended conversations and short discussions, using a limited range of low-intermediate English language structures and forms.
Identify main ideas and key details in short, adapted written English texts on familiar topics.
Write short paragraphs with main ideas and supporting details, using a limited range of low-intermediate English language structures and forms.
Work effectively in a diverse cultural environment at a low intermediate English level.

Technology Requirements for ESLN 3500

RAM ID: Students will join the Canvas course and Zoom meetings using their RAM ID. Your RAM ID is your CCSF student number and a password. Here is information about setting up your RAM ID.

Learning Management System Requirement: Students need to use the Learning Management System CanvasLinks to an external site. every class day to complete assignments, participate in discussions, and join Zoom meetings.

Internet Requirement: Students need reliable access to the internet to complete classwork in Canvas and join Zoom meetings. If you do not have a computer, tablet or smart phone, CCSF has a technology loan program where you can borrow a laptop for a semester.

Camera Requirement: Students need access to a camera with audio and visual capabilities. Most smartphones and laptops have this capability.

Important Attendance Information!

Daily attendance in non-credit classes is not required but highly recommended. When you attend Zoom meetings and do all the activities in Canvas, your English will improve.

If you choose to change your class or stop attending your class, please let your teacher know. This way, the teacher can make space for another student to join the class.

Students who do not participate in Canvas (or Zoom through Canvas) will be dropped by the teacher.
