73085 ESL 182: Intermediate Academic ESL

The course is online with required CityZoom meetings from 10:10-12PM every Monday and Wednesday
Official description from the CCSF Catalog: [This course provides] "Training and practice in intermediate reading and writing, with emphasis on language structure and vocabulary development for non-native speakers of English. Practice in reading passages from informational and literary texts to support written work. Practice in a variety of writing tasks. Intermediate language skills integrated on the basis of academic tasks and content.
In my experience, the course requires the development of skills such as reading, writing and grammar skills that students will use in other classes. Most students are able to put this information into use as they learn it, so the work for this class improves their performance in their other classes by improving their ability to use English.

Students should add the course prior to the start of the semester through normal registration procedures. Students who want to add on or after the first day of class need to put in an add request Details about requesting to add the class or other issues related to registration can be found at the Office of Admissions and RegistrationLinks to an external site..
Students who are registered for the class but who do not attend CityZoom and participate in class activities during the first two weeks of class will be dropped.
During the semester, students who stop attending CityZoom sessions and participating in class activities for two weeks may be dropped from the course.
Students who are registered but who want to drop the class should contact me so that I can help you with the drop process.

Our textbooks for this semester should be available in the CCSF bookstore. You are, however, free to buy the books anywhere you like.

Aug 19--Module Zero Opens
Aug 19--First class meeting at 10:10AM
Sep 1--Last day to reduce units in order to qualify for 100% refund
Sep 4--Last day to add the class and last day to drop the class without a W
Sep 5-7--Labor Day Holiday (work due date moved to 9/8)
Sep 9--Last day to withdraw to qualify for 50% refund.
Oct 12--CCSF FLEX Day (no CityZoom meeting, but Module will open as usual)
Nov 11--Veterans Day Holiday (no CityZoom meeting)
Nov 13--Last day to withdraw from the course.
Nov 26-29--Thanksgiving Holiday (class meetings are not affected, but work due date moved to 11/30)
Dec 16 and 21—Final exam (in three parts).
