ESL 182: Intermediate Academic ESL

The course is in person with required meetings from 9:10AM-12:00PM every Tuesday and Thursday in Cloud Hall Room 223.
Official description from the CCSF Catalog: [This course provides] "Training and practice in intermediate reading and writing, with emphasis on language structure and vocabulary development for non-native speakers of English. Practice in reading passages from informational and literary texts to support written work. Practice in a variety of writing tasks. Intermediate language skills integrated on the basis of academic tasks and content.
In my experience, the course requires the development of skills such as reading, writing and grammar skills that students will use in other classes. Most students are able to put this information into use as they learn it, so the work for this class improves their performance in their other classes by improving their ability to use English.

Students should add the course prior to the start of the semester through normal registration procedures. If you have not done this before or need help, visit the ESL Department homepage and look under the banner "Register for Classes" to get directions about how to register for the course.
Students who want to add starting Jan. 13 must request an add code. Details about requesting an add code or other issues related to registration can be found at the Office of Admissions and Registration.
Students who are registered for the class but who do not attend CityZoom and participate in class activities during the first two weeks of class will be dropped.
During the semester, students who stop attending CityZoom sessions and participating in class activities for two weeks may be dropped from the course.
Students who are registered but who want to drop the class should contact me so that I can help you with the drop process.

Our textbooks for Spring 2025 should be available in the CCSF bookstore. You are, however, free to buy the books anywhere you like.

Friday, Jan. 31--Last day to add the class and last day to drop the class without a W.
Tuesday, March 4--CCSF FLEX Day (No class meeting)
Tuesday, April 1 and Thursday, April 3--Spring Break (No class meetings)
Tuesday, May 13--Last regular class meeting and one part of Final exam.
Wednesday, May 14--Two parts of the Final exam for ESL 182. Time 8AM-12PM; Place TBD.
