Welcome!

City College of San Francisco - CityOnline Angelina Fa

Welcome to Spring 2025!

I teach multiple sections of  ASAM 20 : Asian American Experience Since 1820.

Asian American Studies courses like this have been taught for many years throughout Community College, CSU and UC campuses.

ASAM 20 covers the long history of diverse Asian American communities that started with immigrants from China, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, India and Pakistan.  We explore the communities created by those coming from Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.  We explore current and historic issues of race and racism, self-determination, struggle and resistance.  CSU grants both US History and Area F Ethnic Studies credit for ASAM 20.

I was lucky to have high school, college and graduate school teachers who supported my exploration of the Asian American experience. I earned my BA and MA degrees in Rhode Island, and my doctorate in Ethnic Studies is from Cal.

If you do not see a space open right away, you can try to access the Wait List or make a Request to Add once the class begins.  There may be seats opening up after the first couple weeks since students who do not turn in classwork are dropped to make space for other students. Different sections have different start dates.
