CRN 70835 Health 102: Helping Relationships - Recovery and Wellness

Course Information

This course offers an introduction to the applied and theoretical principles of the wellness and recovery model. The course emphasizes consumer-directed services, action planning, documentation, systems navigation, trauma informed care, crisis management and counseling skills.

CTE Attendance Policy

The Health Education Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certificate Programs developed the CTE Class Participation and Absence Policy in partnership with Community Advisory Boards to align with industry standards in accordance with college policy. The goal is to ensure that students attend required class sessions and are well-prepared to provide quality direct services in professional health, behavioral health, social service and medical settings.

Class time is particularly valuable in CTE classes, providing a vital opportunity for students to practice and refine skills with input from peers and faculty. Because absence adversely impact students’ ability to participate in class, students who miss class also lose opportunities to earn points for class participation. We strongly encourage students to attend all class sessions on time in order to promote learning, develop professional skills, prepare to provide quality services, and respond to challenges that arise when working in the health and social services field.

Online Courses: Students are required to have regular and effective contact throughout the course. Instructors are required to drop students who do not participate (discussion post, assignment submission, etc) for a two-week period of time.

Please monitor your class participation and attendance closely to ensure that you are complying with the requirements for the course. If you are unable to complete an assignment or discussion post, please email your instructor and check the Canvas course site to keep up with the curriculum and assignments.
