Domestic Violence Investigation Scenario

Purpose

The purpose of this scenario is to give you an opportunity to apply what you have learned about domestic violence in LGBTQ+ relationships.

This activity relates to SLO 4 - Identify crime problems and effective justice system responses in the LGBTQ+ community.

You have learned a lot already about effective strategies for communicating with members of the LGBTQ+ community in ways that build trust.  In this scenario, you will have a chance to put what you have learned to work.  

For this activity, we will walk through a typical law enforcement scenario involving as disturbance call.  Each question will present you with additional facts and details. Read the scenario below and then begin.

Consider the totality of the circumstances and all that you have learned so far and respond to each question with what you would do. At the end of the activity, review your answers and the feedback provided for each.  You will earn 5 points for completing this activity.

Scenario:

You are dispatched to a local apartment complex for the report of two roommates arguing and creating a noise disturbance. You arrive outside the front door and hear two male voices yelling at each other about a late rent check.
