- "Malee Asks About the Weather."
  She is Malee. She lives in Portland. The weather is beautiful today. She calls her parents. They live in California. “How is the weather today?” “It’s nice. It’s warm and sunny. Malee's aunt lives in Thailand. She calls her aunt. “How is the weather today?” “It is very hot today." Her friend is Ahmed. He lives in Seattle. Malee texts Ahmed. Her friend Laura is in Toronto. “Hi, Laura. How is the weather in Toronto?” “It’s cold and snowy. I have my hat, my scarf, and my gloves.” Malee calls her friend Lou. He lives in England. “How is the weather today?” “It’s cold and rainy. I need my umbrella.” Malee calls her friend Tom. “How is the weather in Spain?” “It is nice. I can eat lunch outside.” Malee’s friend Susan is at the beach. “How is the weather?” “It is windy and foggy. I can’t see the ocean.” Malee calls her husband. His name is Joe. Joe doesn’t answer his phone.
- It's Spring!
  Hunt for eggs. Plant seeds. Fly a kite. Dig worms. Watch for rain. Play ball. Smell flowers. Scoop mud. It's spring!
- "It's Winter"
  It's winter! Sled down a hill. Make an angel in the snow. Ski down a slope. Ride a snowboard off a jump. Skate around the ice rink. Build a snowman in the yard. Drink hot cocoa with your friend. It's winter!

  Lightning flashes in the sky. Rain falls on the ground. Wind blows through the grass. Clouds float in the sky. Ice freezes on the branches. The rainbow bends into the clouds. Snow piles on the fence. Fog spreads over the hills. The sun shines on the earth.

- "A Blanket of Snow"
  Sometimes in winter, it snows all day and night. It snows so long that all the earth turns white. Snow covers the bushes and trees. Snow covers the houses. Snow covers everything in sight. But somewhere under that blanket of snow, somewhere deep in the whiteness, forgotten and still, spring is waiting!
- "Here Comes Winter"
  Here comes Winter! Autumn has ended and signs of the new season are all around. Temperatures are colder. In winter, I wear a coat and gloves when I leave for school. Daytime is very short. It is dark outside when I get up and dark before I go to bed. Birds crowd around the feeder and squirrels dig up the nuts they have buried. Other animals hibernate. Many trees have lost all their leaves and the branches are bare. But other trees stay green all year. My winter garden is also bare. Fruits and vegetables seeds are resting underground until spring. When it snows, sleds go flying down slippery hills. Winter is a fun time to play outside with my friends. The calendar is turning from December to January, and then February. This might be my favorite time of year. I like to watch the seasons change. And when I see the signs of winter, I know spring will be next.
- "Here Comes Autumn"
  Here comes Autumn! Summer has ended and signs of fall are all around. Temperatures are cooler. In autumn, I wear a sweater or jacket when I leave for school. Days are shorter. In autumn, there is not as much time to play outside before it gets dark. Birds and butterflies are leaving. They fly south in autumn to spend the winter in a warmer place. Nature's colors are changing. Leaves that were green in summer turn yellow, brown, and orange in autumn. Fruits and vegetables are ready to pick and eat. Apples and pumpkins grow all summer, and by autumn they are ripe. Soccer balls are flying through the air. Autumn is a fun time to play outside with my friends. The calendar is turning from September to October, and then to November. This might be my favorite time of year. I like to watch the seasons change. And when I see the signs of autumn, I know winter will be next.
