Text   Guided Learning Activity on Annotation

Guided Learning Activities (GLAs) are offered through the English Lab and give students a brief introduction to various reading and writing skills. Many GLAs include brief quizzes to help students process the material. When I assign a GLA, I'd like you to take the embedded quizzes, but I will not see the results, so don't worry about your score.

The last activity in most GLAs is a final reflection on what you have learned. You do not need to complete the reflection exercise at the end of any of the GLA modules; that does not get sent to me and I will have no way to access your answers. Instead, please return here to fill out the answers in this check-in quiz so that I can see your responses and give you credit. Once you have answered the two questions, you are done with the GLA and will receive your points.

The GLA activity in this module focuses on how to annotate a textbook, academic article, or anything else you need to read actively in college. Annotation is an academic word for engaging with what you read through taking notes, asking questions, and drawing connections to other material you are learning.
