Module 3.1 Overview: Human Development

Overview

In this module, the main goal is to explore lifespan development, but we are going to focus in the Module materials on ACEs, and leave the standard developmental information to your textbook and quiz. Plan to spend a lot of time on the materials and work this module -- this is heavy stuff, but very engaging and critical to understanding psychology.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

Describe prenatal development.
Describe physical and motor development during infancy.
Describe social development during infancy.
Compare and contrast the theories of cognitive development.
Compare and contrast the theories of moral development.
Explain the physical and psychological events we associate with adolescence.
Describe aging and the developmental changes that occur during adulthood.
Discuss how we cope with death and dying.

To meet the objectives of this module, you will complete the following activities and assessments:

Review the lectures, videos, and other materials in the module.
Complete the chapter reading.
Do the Assignment, "Adverse Childhood Experiences."
Complete the Module Quiz on the week's chapter.

Schedule

You should expect to spend at about 7 - 10 hours to complete all the learning activities of each module. Check the weekly announcement for what is due and when.
