Setting Up Notifications And The Mobile App

Purpose

Staying connected to your instructor and this class is critical to your success. This activity will ensure you have your notifications here in Canvas set to forward Announcements and Messages and that you have the Canvas Mobile App available on a mobile device.

Activity Instructions

Complete the set-up of your notifications and installation of the Canvas Mobile App and then respond to the question below. You will earn up to 5 points for completing this activity.

Step 1

In order to help you stay connected with this class throughout the semester, set your Canvas Notifications to forward Announcements and Inbox messages to your email and mobile device via SMS (text). I will only use Announcements and the Canvas Inbox to send you communications, so it is critical that you read and respond as necessary in a timely manner.

Getting Started with Canvas as a Student

Now set up your notifications to work with you. At least set Announcements and Messages to push-up to an email and or a mobile device that you see and use at least daily. Remember, you are responsible for the content of all Announcements and Messages sent by your instructor.

Step 2

The Canvas Mobile App is free to download for Apple and Android devices. It is an ideal way to stay connected with all of your classes with a presence on Canvas, to communicate quickly and efficiently with your instructor, and even to complete some class work. With that said, you cannot complete an entire course just using the mobile app. It is not ideal for taking quizzes or exams and not at all good for typing and submitting papers.
